Rolf Langebartels "Soundbag"

"Singing in the Sun", the work of Harald Kubiczak included in "Music Without Musicians", is soundbag no. 257 within the online-soundart-project of Rolf Langebartels:

Ten years after Kästrich: Circuit-Art

Almost ten years after "Kästrich" which existed from 1990 until 2000 as an independent forum for art in Mainz, Circuit-Art is founded as an independent platform that traces developments in art through publications. As a non-profit framework Circuit-Art emphasizes those segments in art that are not represented within the art historic or art market approach on art. In this way, Circuit-Art may work as an information link between artists and a small public.

Paul Panhuysen, Het Apollohuis, curated a program of 6 mechanical orchestras at De IJsbreker in Amsterdam in 1997. This book documents the orchestras of the artists Trimpin, Frédéric Le Junter, Ulrich Eller, Ad van Buuren, Pierre Bastien & Harald Kubiczak. Essays by Kitty Zijlmans and Leon van Noorden use the title as a point of departure for examining the absence of musicians in the process of making music. The CD features original Amsterdam recordings of each of the six orchestras.

Wilgenroosstraat Eindhoven 1972 | 1975 – Photographies Pieter Boersma

Galerie Pennings, Geldropseweg 61b, Eindhoven –
In 1972 and 1975, Pieter Boersma (1945) was invited by Paul Panhuysen (1934-2015) to take photographs of people during several street parties. These portraits that were never exhibited sofar can be seen from May 21 to June 25. Pieter Boersma has also documented a large part of the works of Paul Panhuysen. In the seventies, Panhuysen was the organizer of street parties in Wilgenroosstraat in Eindhoven, together with the inhabitants. Followings to this, he developed in cooperation with the people there some concepts to improve the conditions of this particular street. Models and concepts of this are on exhibition until May 31 at Faculteit Bouwkunde, Casa Vertigo at Technical University in Eindhoven.

Thomas Ibrahim Hannibal: Drawings for birds

Stadionbrache Zurich, Gestohlene Räume – Temporäre künstlerische Raumaneignungen · 16- 24.08.2014, 16-22h daily
This work is placed in between the grass, bushes and flowers. Thomas Hannibal has placed small parts of pencil drawings. Like small banners, these flat elements are moved by wind and small animals. Intense way of graphite drawing and iregular shapes of paper cause different light reflexions. They move in the wind. Insects and birds observe them.

Paul Panhuysen: Pendulum Change Ringing - Edition Telemark

First vinyl LP edition by Paul Panhuysen since 1986. A recording of the installation displayed at Koloniale Waren in Hasselt (Belgium, 2012). Twelve Turkish metal platters, each mounted onto a plastic bin, and placed in a 20 meters long row. The rim of each platter is hit by a metal pendulum operated by a tiny electromotor. Each hit causes the platter to resonate. During the recording, the twelve pendulums are activated one after the other. The paces at which they swing differ due to their rods having different lengths. This causes interlocking rhythmic patterns to emerge that become more complex with each step and never stay the same. Hits aggregate into clusters, then thin out again. The sound is not chaotic, yet its regularity is hard to comprehend. "You might call Pendulum Change Ringing a typical Paul Panhuysen piece: it works according to a system, quite a simple one in fact, but its effect surpasses that apparent simplicity by far." (René van Peer) Edition of 300 copies/18 euro. Order:

OOG + OOR, Paul Panhuysen & Sappho Panhuysen

June 01, 2014-June 01, 2015, Stadhuisplein, Eindhoven. On invitation of Stichting Bushalte van Rietveld: OOG + OOR, a work made for the bus stop designed by Gerrit Rietveld in 1962.
Image and sound of this work are based on Sudoku. Panhuysen has made 365 sound fragments for the carillion of the nearby hall of the municipality. Each day during the year a different sound fragment will be played.

72 Assignments: The Foundation Course in Art and Design Today

Edited by Chloe Briggs - a practical source book for teachers, students, and anyone curious to try. The books concept is based on Johannes Itten's pioneering preliminary course at the Bauhaus which became a model for the Foundation Course in Art and Design. The book observes the Foundation courses as they exist today in 72 short assignments from around the world. It is a reflection of current concerns, experiments, and ideas from artists, designers, educators on crucial aspects of teaching in the twenty-first century. The assignments are related to a two-part conference called "A History Uncovered; A Future Imagined: The Foundation Course in Art and Design," a collaboration between 'Art School Educated,' Tate Research and Paris College of Art held in London and Paris in June 2013.
